The Chosen One(s)....

For our research, we have to study several music video theorists and several music videos, in order to broaden our understanding of music videos and how they work. I have started making a Prezi about Sven E Carlsson, Michael Shore, Andrew Goodwin and Pete Frazer, all of which have developed theories on how music videos work and what message they're trying to convey or represent. It's important that I go into depth when doing my research on these theorists because this helps me develop a more analytical eye when I'm analysing both my own and other people's music videos. I'll also be able to apply the theories to the music videos that I'm watching.

The music videos I have chosen to analyse are:

  • Halestorm's 'Familier Taste of Poison'
  • Katy Perry's 'California Gurls'
  • Keane's 'Soverign Light Cafe'
  • Taylor Swift's 'We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together'
  • Paramore's 'Hate To See Your Heartbreak'
  • Katy Perry's 'Unconditionally'
  • Sleeping With Siren's 'Do It Now, Remember It Later'

I wanted to analyse an array of different types of music videos instead of a few from the same or similar artists that are all narrative based. I feel this will allow me to have the best research possible going ahead into planning.
